Higher Apprenticeship in Accounting (Technician)

This is the most suitable level if you have advanced knowledge and skills in accounting.

The vocational qualification is the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting.  The modules include: 

 

Mandatory Modules

  1. Financial Statements – Principles of financial statements, drafting financial statements
  2. Budgeting – Principles of budgeting, drafting budgets
  3. Financial Performance – Principles of managing financial performance, measuring financial performance  
  4. Internal Control and Accounting Systems – Principles of internal control, evaluating accounting systems
  5. Business Taxation – Principles of business tax, calculating business tax
  6. Personal Taxation – Principles of personal tax, calculating personal tax
  7. Credit Management and Control – Principles of credit management, control of debt and credit
  8. External Auditing – Principles of external audit, auditing financial statements

 (Note: units 5-8 are optional units.  2 optional units are required to gain the full qualification.)

 

Other components in the Accounting Apprenticeship are:  

  • Functional Skills English level 2 or Key Skills Communication – level 2
  • Functional Skills Maths level 2 or Key Skills Application of Number – level 2
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities – completion of a workbook

 

 Method Assessment

  • Units 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 – Computer based exam
  • Unit 4 – work based project or simulation based project

 

Method of Delivery

  • One day per week classroom tuition (for 1 year completion)
  • Half day per week classroom tuition (for 2 year completion
