Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting
If you have previous accountancy or finance experience, relevant qualifications (A-levels), and the confidence to start at a slightly higher level, then this Advanced Apprenticeship could be for you.
The vocational qualification is the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. The modules include:
- Accounts Preparation I – Principles of accounts preparation, extending the trial balance using accounting adjustments, accounting for fixed assets
- Accounts Preparation II – Preparing final accounts for ‘sole traders’ and accounting for partnerships
- Cash Management – Principles of cash management
- Costs and Revenues – Principles of costing, providing cost and revenue information
- Indirect Tax – Principles of VAT, completing VAT returns
- Spreadsheet software
- Professional Ethics in Accounting and Finance (If not already achieved at level 2)
Other components in the Accounting Apprenticeship are:
- Functional Skills English level 2 or Key Skills Communication – level 2
- Functional Skills Maths level 2 or Key Skills Application of Number – level 2
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities – completion of a workbook
Method of Assessment
- Units 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 – Computer based exam
- Unit 6 – Work based evidence or computer based exam
Method of Delivery
- One day per week classroom tuition
- Visits to workplace by learning advisor for assessment
